Equity in education is all about all students independently of the race, ethnicity, and parents financial and social, obtaining equal access to the best education a particular public school can offer. Equity is not to be confused with equality. Equality strives for everyone to have the “same”. For example, School Boards strive for every child to have a textbook, (that’s equality) however, not all students can read and understand that textbook, so those students cannot access the knowledge/instruction the textbook provides (that’s inequity in education). The solution? Perhaps trade books at different reading levels, then all students would have access to the knowledge that trade book provides.
Do you understand my plea?
