In order to achieve equity in our schools we must have courageous conversations. These conversations are not easy to have but according to author Singleton (2006), if we agree to stay engaged, speak the truth and accept discomfort and non-closure we can improve student learning.
I am one the facilitators of these conversations at our school, and you know what I do? I pray, yes I do. Facilitating these conversations, it is not a walk in the park. There are many issues to address and as human beings we feel defensive when we realize that we do not know it all.
